Séverine Autesserre’s book Peaceland will be the subject of an upcoming television program produced by the Carnegie Council.
The program will air on CUNY TV on Monday, December 15 at 10am, 4pm and 10pm, and on Saturday, December 20 at 5pm. It will also air on MHz Worldview on Sunday, December 14 at 10am.
Peaceland: Conflict Resolution and the Everyday Politics of International Intervention suggests a new explanation for why international peace interventions often fail to reach their full potential. Based on several years of ethnographic research in conflict zones around the world, it demonstrates that everyday elements – such as the expatriates’ social habits and usual approaches to understanding their areas of operation – strongly influence peace building effectiveness.
