Meire Klemmer is a senior in the Columbia – Tel Aviv University dual degree program, studying Political Science and Digital Culture and Communications. Born in Sri Lanka and growing up in China, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Italy, she developed a keen interest in intercultural exchange and politics that has shaped her both as a person and a thinker. Building on her volunteering experience, including at a refugee center in Italy, she held positions in Model United Nations and the Columbia Global Collaboratory, with a particular focus on issues of sustainable development and conflict. Living in a region characterized by a tense coexistence of cultures and serving as a fellow of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) have reinforced Meire’s interest in solution-oriented policy. She is a native German speaker, bilingual in English, and proficient in Italian and Spanish. With a particular focus on harnessing digital innovation and disruptive technologies to drive development at the intersection of social and political science, Meire aims to continue her studies at a graduate level in public policy and international politics. Her research interests include the evolution of conflict under emerging global trends such as digital transformation, and how this condition of growing complexity can potentiate new strategies of conflict resolution.
