SIWPS member and Political Science Department Chair Page Fortna has written a new blog post for Political Violence at a Glance.
In “Enough with the Pessimism about Peacekeeping,” Fortna responds to a recent New York Times article critical of UN peacekeeping efforts. Fortna, a frequent contributor to the Political Violence at a Glance, decries the disproportionate media negativity about peacekeeping and goes on to detail peacekeeping’s benefits as well as its historical success.
Among Fortna’s many other forays into the topic of peacekeeping is her acclaimed 2008 book Does Peacekeeping Work? Shaping Belligerents’ Choices after Civil War (Princeton University Press).
