Event Description:

In response to Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, the international community levied and implemented unprecedented sanctions against Russia, effectively cutting off a major economy from the global financial system. The Saltzman Institute will convene an expert panel to break down the intentions behind these sanctions, what impact they are likely to have on Russia, Putin, EU members, and what implications they have for wider international community. As sanctions increasingly become the coercive tool of choice for the US, the panel will help shed light on what these sanctions mean for the future of the war, and what the war can tell us about the future of economic statecraft.
