Female bombers are increasing and capturing headlines. In Iraq, the trend of female suicide terrorism is unpredictable and unprecedented. Farhana Ali will explore the grievances women express that justifies their participation in suicide terrorism, supported by an ideological framework.

Farhana Ali is currently a Senior Fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies on Terrorism.  Prior to that, she was an Associate International Policy Analyst at the RAND Corporation. She has done extensive research on the ideology of terrorist organizations such as al Qaeda and affiliated jihadists, jihadist networks, religious extremism, and female suicide bombers.  She holds a M.A. in security policy studies from Elliott School of International Affairs, George Washington University; and B.A. in political science from Southwestern University.
