Alexander Cooley, a Member of the Saltzman Institute and the Chair of the Department of Political Science at Barnard College, spoke with a Harper’s Magazine reporter for an article published today. The interview covered several issues raised in Dr. Cooley’s latest book, Great Games, Local Rules: The New Great Power Contest in Central Asia (Oxford University Press, 2012), from counterterrorism to the question of where the military equipment the US leaves behind in Afghanistan will end up.
