SIWPS Director Richard Betts was featured in an article on Columbia News’s “Global Impact” section yesterday. The article, “SIPA Expert Says Leaner Pentagon Better Targets 21st Century Threats”, summarized Dr. Betts’s discussion with the Council on Foreign Relations on the Pentagon’s latest strategic review. In the background, of course, are the defense spending cuts with which the Pentagon will have to deal. Fortunately, Dr. Betts believes, the cuts will be compatible with an increased focus on burden-sharing with allies and “a more modest definition of national security.”
