Caglar Kurc is a post-doctoral visiting scholar in the Arnold A. Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studies. His research interests include defense procurement and industries in developing countries, global arms production networks, and security policy. In his dissertation, he examined the political economy of Turkey’s defense procurement and industry since 1923. His current research focuses on the comparative study of defense industrial development of South Africa, South Korea, Brazil and Turkey.

During 2012-2013, Kurc was a Fulbright Fellow at the MIT Security Studies Program. He holds M.A. in War Studies from King’s College London, and Ph.D. in International Relations from Middle East Technical University, Ankara.
