Fatima Ahmad is a senior at Columbia College studying Middle Eastern and South Asian with a concentration in Education. She serves as an Advisor to the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations, attending meetings and writing reports for Security Council meetings pertaining to the Middle East and First Committee Affairs of the General Assembly. In the fall, she will produce reports on U.S. foreign policy in South Asia for the Bureau of Global Public Affairs at the U.S. State Department. This past spring, Fatima worked at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, specializing in cases relating to hate crimes. Previously, she has held positions with Senate Majority Leader Chuck E. Schumer, the Consulate General of Pakistan in New York, and the Council on American-Islamic Relations. On campus, Fatima has served as Managing Editor for the Columbia Journal of Asia and has worked as a Research Assistant for Dr. Isabel Huacuja Alonso. Fatima is a Saltzman, Laidlaw, and Institute of Global Politics Scholar along with being a recipient of the FLAS Fellowship for the study of Urdu.
