In this talk, Professor Michael Kimmage will introduce his book Collisions: The War in Ukraine and the Origins of the New Global Instability, which is appearing with Oxford University Press in March 2023. Professor Kimmage will outline the origins of the war, going back to 2008; and the interplay among Russia, Ukraine, Europe and the United States that is the backdrop to Putin’s massive invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Professor Kimmage will also sketch the war’s global implications and the policy options facing the United States at the present moment.
