Kim Marten had an article published by the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) think tank. Marten and her co-authors (Andrea Kendall-Taylor, Carisa Nietsche, Nicholas Lokker, and Kristen Taylor) argue that even after the Wagner Group’s demise, Russia has incentives to use similar groups in its own Eurasian neighborhood to exert influence and create instability–and they discuss how this might happen.
The article is titled “Potential Russian Uses of Paramilitaries in Eurasia” and is available online here.
