The Emerging Voices in National Security and Intelligence Program at the Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studies launched the International Relations SIPA-Undergrad Mentorship Program in Fall 2021. This program seeks to build a bridge between students pursuing careers in international relations in Columbia’s four undergraduate schools and the School of International and Public Affairs. Undergraduate students are paired with a SIPA mentor to learn about potential career paths, ask questions about applying for graduate school, build a professional network within the field, and have a more experienced student to lean on. Women, BIPOC, first-generation, veteran, and other underserved students are encouraged to apply.

The first class of pairings matched over 100 students together. The Saltzman Institute sponsored coffee chats for initial meetings between the mentors and mentees. The Program accepts mentors and mentees in the Fall of every academic year. The deadline to sign up for the 2023-24 cohort is Friday, February 2nd, 2024. Pairings will be announced in the beginning of the Spring 2024 semester.

Note: If you participated in last year’s program, we welcome you to sign up again for a new pairing.
